Don't Panic

Retro Mario World

One of the best games ever.  Of everything I have ever played looking back, this is one of the few games that really holds up to the test of time. It is still hard, causing Maggie and I to both to scream profanities at the screen.  It also is a lot of fun, and the levels vary enough to keep my attention.

We're still having fun, and you're still the one.

Maggie and I are playing it on Virtual Console, and she is using the Classic Controller, so I think she has a slight advantage.  The placement of the buttons on the Wavebird does not really make this game easy, and after 10 minutes my fingers are sore from the wacky layout.  Still, the fun outweighs the pain, and I am very happy to be playing it again.

Craziest thing is, I’m playing on a 42 inch TV, and because of the SNES graphics, it still looks exactly the same.  I’m writing this in between playing levels, because on two player it alternates who is playing at what time.

This is still a solid game.

  1. Agreed. I love all of the classic Mario Games. This is one of the best, they just never get old!
